I admire all of the quotes mentioned by Sir Richard Branson, and with no offence to his take around these quotes, however I chose to give it some more differentiation with an AtoZ Entrepreneurial thinking, cause as an Entrepreneur one has to think differently,
- “The road to success is always under construction.” – Lily Tomlin
So when does one become successful? Does one complete the construction to then become successful? If so, then is the road to success always under construction? Or is it for the failures, the losers that the road to success is always under construction.
- “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure” – Colin Powell
If there are no secrets to success, then why quote no. 3 “The secret of our success is that we never, never give up” – Wilma Mankiller. And isn’t preparation, hard work and learning from failure actually secretive or discreet from the people, until the time one has achieved success.
- “Some people dream of success, while other people get up every morning and make it happen” -Wayne Huizenga
Quote no. 2 talks about having a right framework and being a dreamer, gets one to be successful. Like this quote as it talks more about taking action to succeed, and to not just visualize, plan or ideate. But thinking AtoZ of it, then, there are few dreamers, creatives, visionaries, misfits the ones who take the unconventional route in creating, building, producing something new, something different, in ways that may not look like regular work, but still they succeed. And there are the masses who may dream of starting their own businesses and then they do get up every morning and get in to the same grind, mundane routines of a Monday to Friday job. So who is successful?

Honestly, one has to be very rich to be able to go from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm. Because when money are taken care of, not stressing the mind, things for the family are taken care of, then there is no loss of enthusiasm towards trying and failing. But for those who stake their everything in to an idea, well they have responsibilities and at some point or the other they may tend to loose motivation if things don’t work out. So until and unless the money factor is not taken care of in order to manage the daily necessities, its not enthusiastic in failing over and over again in search for success. Adam Grant in his book Originals, sites many examples were in famous entrepreneurs and inventors went on to work on their ideas, projects, experiments and innovations for years, did not lose enthusiasm because they had themselves covered with another job to take care of the finances, without which they may not have succeeded, and they quit their jobs only after succeeding with their ideas or innovations supporting them financially too.

In the pursuit of success, there are many obstacles and distractions, aren’t we giving those things a reason to bypass, to ignore them, so as to remain focused on the goal to succeed in the one thing that we are working on.
- “Success is a Journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome” – Arthur Ashe
I am a believer on this, to such an extent that I often use a hashtag #SuccesssIsAJourney while the core of its meaning is for one to not get complacent, or comfortable on having achieved a desired outcome or goal, one needs to move on to the next outcome or goal, hence treat success as a journey and not a destination. But the importance for outcome or goal has to be as much as the importance for doing. Cause doing something for the sake of doing, without any outcome or goal in mind, is not worth anything. One needs to focus on the doing, the journey, whilst also setting milestones on the way, to ensure accountability, and motivation to move on to the next set of goals on the way. How can a journey be successful if one is never arriving at a small destination, what’s the point in doing something that does not bring in an outcome.

Both successful and unsuccessful people have value, a successful person shares his valuable success story, an unsuccessful person shares his lessons in failure that are equally valuable.

Well, this one is also very true. An Entrepreneur has to be patient, perseverant and persistent in his pursuit for success with his idea or startup. Whilst we may maintain a never give up attitude towards the idea or startup, we give up upon other important areas of life such as health, friends and at times the most valuable time with family. So in doing all that and achieving success, are we truly successful.
- “ You don’t have to be a genius or a visionary or even a college graduate to be successful. You just need a framework and a dream” – Michael Dell
The quote is motivating, but then on thinking otherwise, everyone has dreams and can speak of their framework being the best way to bring it to reality. Lets list people who were geniuses, visionaries and college graduates, and then lets list those who were not geniuses, not visionaries and not graduated. Which side is having more number of successful people? How many success stories can one list out, based on the framework and dream theory.
- “For success, attitude is equally as important as ability” – Walter Scott
Attitude is most important. Attitude cannot be equaled with ability. There may be many who may not have the abilities to do certain things, but the few who have the attitude, will make themselves able enough to do them. And then the other side, were in there may be many who may have the ability to accomplish certain tasks or goals, but the wrong attitude sets them up for failure in attaining the desired success.
