Ancient Philosophy and Teachings

Technological advancements in the modern world have led to taking some of the ancient philosophies and teachings forgotten or treated casually. But these theories had their meaning not just for the ancient times, they are as relatable in the modern age. Finding the meaning behind some of these philosophies may not only be enlightening in itself, but also resonate with one’s modern thoughts, applicable to modern day problems as a solution, an answer or a point in one’s spiritual life.

Anti Influencer Economy

Brands do not necessarily depend upon influencers with huge following to market their products and services, that’s just a part of the equation. The story is more important, that connects with the target audience. Huge influencer following does not guarantee the right storytelling to the audience. That’s where the anti-influencer economy kicks in that relies on user generated content which is more realistic and connecting to actual potential users. One only needs to get the story right and the brands are willing to pay good money for the same. No pressure of creating a personal brand, building followers or being a public figure. Only focus then is on the content creation which connects.

Family Business Success

Clear role and responsibility definitions are vital to scale a family business. However in most cases there is no distinction between roles and everyone within the family pitches in as and when as and where needed. But to scale a more formal approach is required, as that brings in more focus and seriousness to the role and achieving the goal there on.

Give Before Take

Building anything requires giving first, giving in terms of time, energy, materials, resources and money. This giving is an investment in the building process. Without giving or investing you cannot build, hence you cannot take as well. To better your life and business, take interest in other people in your life and business as well, better their goals as well, and that ripples into achieving your goals.

Hustle Pre 40, Sustain post 40

The human body goes through changers as it ages. What was possible physically at a younger age, may not be impossible as you age, but is definitely risky and not as effective as well. Entrepreneurs must focus on hustling before 40, as the body helps in recovering faster. The priorities in one’s life pre 40 are different than those post 40. Post 40 entrepreneurs must strategize for rest, focus, stress management, sustainability.

Prioritising important tasks that leads to accomplishing our goals requires saying no to things that are not essential. It’s not possible to accommodate time for the essential and inessential simultaneously, one has to be cancelled out, and it’s better to cancel the unessential.

Reading Rules

Reading literary rules as a personal activity in comparison to most other activities for the self. If you are into reading that’s great, if you are not, start now. We can talk about its results, down the road later. Make some rules for your reading, like carrying a book on you at all times so that you can just get reading while commuting, waiting for your appointment or anytime you find yourself free to do it. Instead of doom scrolling have a book on your phone to dig into. Read before you go to bed. Have a stack of books by your bedside. Re read you favorite bookto get you out of a slump. Don’t wait for another time or a better offer to buy the book, just buy it when you see it and feel it. Visit bookstores in your city, in your travels.

Stoic Lessons

Being Good is Hard but its Right

Goodness faces lots of challenges. It’s a hard path to stay on. But one must endure it and do the best one can to fight for what’s good and right.

Doing the Essential only matters

Do what’s essential. Ask yourself the question if it’s essential, if it is, do it, if not eliminate it. It saves energy and doubles the time to do more of the lesser essential things to do. Inessential things are a many, the essential things are always limited.

Attitude for and with Aptitude

In the process of doing what’s essential, there will be many distractions and disruptions around us. Those are not in our control, how we react to them, how we think of them, how we see them, how we use them is important and up to us. The choice is ours on how we use the external factors that are not in our control.

Mind Control

Suffering is more in the mind, than in reality. Our judgements and assumptions about the external factors that are not in our control, makes those things important or not. Training the mind to focus on what’s important is a must.

The Age of Cato is gone (or is it?)

Support the Worthy

Fight for the weak, the small, the right. It’s the right thing to do. Leaving them to suffer at the hands of a bully is not an option.

How a Stoic stands up to bullies

A Lonely Journey

The energy and efforts one brings to his or her idea or work cannot be compared or expected in the same way from the other, it’s never going to be the same, and it can never be controlled as it is not within us to control. No matter what others say or do, the way they say or do, one must not give up one’s way of doing things.

It’s Always Going To  Be One-Sided

Temptations

The true meaning of temptation is understood only by resisting it. Giving into it easy but may not mean enough. As an entrepreneur you want your product or service to be tempting customers, and at the same time you want to resist the temptations that distract you from your work.

Do You Know What Temptation Means?

The Good Surprise

Being strong and in control at all times is good but knowing when to be softer and caring also matters. Entrepreneurs must balance the two sides as required.

This is a Good Surprise

       Thriving in Dark Times

Staying true to who you are, your beliefs, for yourself and others, is the right thing to do even in dark times.

How people thrived in dark times (Stoic stories for hope)

Fight for it

Nothing is perfect, nothing is easy, you have to fight to make it right.

You Have to Fight for it

There’s a Rhythm

There are going to be disruptions, distractions and disturbances, those are not in our control. One has to face them and at the same time find a way back to the rhythm of focus, discipline and good work.

There’s a Rhythm. There’s a Rhythm

The Extraordinary Thing

Courage, Justice, Discipline and Wisdom the four virtues that a stoic lives by are definitely powerful and if you love what you do, there is nothing more you need. Practising the four stoic virtues with love is more empowering.

Thoughts from James Clear

Handling Conflicts

It does not require an equal amount of aggression to counter a conflict. In fact it gets worst by doing so. Conflicts and tense situations require the opposite, calmness and cool from the mind and the body, that helps the brain to think clearly which results in positive action.

Multiplying Motivated Times

We do our best work when we feel motivated. Using the time we are motivated to prepare for the lesser motivated times is multiplying our motivation.

Finding and Maintaining Adventure

One must look for the unknown and venture into it regularly.

3-2-1: Keeping your body loose and head clear, how to find adventure, and what to do when you’re motivated

Winning or Losing, Success or Failure

As far as you are not sitting on the sides, you are a winner even if you are losing, because only when you try, when you keep doing what’s important, keep trying no matter how hard it gets, you are a winner. Cause sitting on the sides does not lead to anything. Playing and staying in the game is what counts.

Placement along with Performance

Performing in the wrong place is meaningless. Performance deserves a place and if your performance is not recognised, appreciated and understood then it’s meaningless to continue. Performance degrades in such places. Look for and place yourself in environments were you will thrive.

Mistakes and Misfortunes are material for the next move, use them to your advantage.

3-2-1: On winning and losing, making the most of accidents, and when waiting doesn’t work

Unsinkable Ships

Scientists at the University of Rochester have invented a method that let’s air trapped in metal tubes, allowing to remain afloat and not sink. The air bubble prevents water logging, and ensures the vessel or platform remains afloat at all times.

Voluntary Stories

Our minds have the choice to narrate experiences as per circumstances. A tool to change the story as per the situations.

Waste Management Redefined

Pollution from domestic and commercial spaces is a huge problem in India, considering the rise in population and consumption patterns. The processes and people handling the waste picking and dumping the same in landfills is no longer acceptable. Consumers are watching how companies and businesses operate, including managing or disposing of waste appropriately. Governments have regulatory bodies that are auditing domestic and commercial spaces, to ensure waste is disposed appropriately. A handful of startups have been launched that are managing floral waste from temples, plastic waste from homes and work spaces, electronic waste, bio and no waste, converting them in to raw material or finished articles, thus promoting a circular economy.
